What does it mean when it says I paid excess social security withhold and I am entitled to certain amount but then I do not see that amount added to the total refund

I understand that you would like to understand why you are not seeing the excess social security withheld on your total refund. 

• TurboTax will either add the excess to your federal refund or subtract it from federal taxes you owe, whichever applies, Per IRS tax law.
