You don't have to give a reason for an extension. Just file the extension. Extensions are granted automatically, just for the asking.

Keep in mind that an extension extends the deadline for filing your tax return. It does not extend the deadline for paying any tax that you owe. All of your tax has to be paid by April 15 to avoid a penalty for late payment.
