I had another post that got very little attention but this seems to have happened two years in a row and I caught it this year ...IE seem to have overpaid taxes last.. year shame on me I guess.
We have two Wells Fargo accounts one in both our names and one in just my wife's name.
I first imported our combination account example let's say it brought over 3,200 in interest and $500 in dividends. That matches the 1099 paperwork for our accounts.
I next import My wife Wells Fargo interest and dividends. It brings in the interest and dividends that she has unto herself but it also repeats the 3200 in interest and $500 in dividends.
Why does TurboTax do this in fact it's done it two years in a row costing me money last year when I overpaid.
This year I caught it and deleted the duplicate entries under my wife's account. However I shouldn't have to do that and God forbid if I was having someone else do my taxes perhaps paying them ...who used TurboTax ...they would have no way of knowing that that information wasn't real.
All Wells Fargo paperwork I received seems accurate. In other words the dollar amounts on our joint account are not repeated on her personal account. Only in the TurboTax import is his stuff duplicated. I can't believe I missed this last year.
If I'm doing something wrong I'd really like to know. If this is a problem unto Wells Fargo I'll be paying a trip to my local bank however it feels like a TurboTax thing .Am I wrong?
