To provide better security on my computer, I run all applications as a local user, but I know I have to install the software as a local admin. I installed TurboTax Deluxe Desktop 2023 software on my one computer with the local admin account. I went ahead and activated the software as the local admin since what I read in the license agreement was that I could install this on 5 computers. After everything was successful, I logged on as the local user on the same computer and it asked me to activate the software again. This worked, but it showed me that two of the licenses are now used up.
Based on this results, the wording in the license agreement and on other KBs is WRONG. I cannot install this on 5 computers, I can install it for 5 users. It is not a large issue since I do not need any additional licenses at this time, but I am afraid that when I get around to upgrading my computer after tax session, that I will not be able to reinstall because of how the activation system works.
I hope Intuit continues to improve the activation system.
