Turbo Tax did not include my 1099-B information despite including 1099-DIV and 1099-INT from the same broker!

Hi,

For my taxes in 2021, I used TurboTax (like I have since the last 8 years), and I linked my broker account (via logging in to get the forms), and it pulled my 1099-INT and 1099-DIV but did not upload any information from my 1099-B! I didn't realize this either since I didn't see any items to review and now I have a letter from IRS!

I am really mad at Turbotax for updating incomplete information from my 1099 form (the INT, DIV and Capital gains are all on the same form!). How do I file a complaint with Turbotax to compensate me for the interest and penalty that IRS is charging me for this?

Forms 1099-INT, 1099-DIV and 1099-B report interest, dividends and investment sales. They are separate categories of income and as such have separate entry screens in TurboTax. Although they are commonly reported by brokers on a composite 1099 statement, they are listed separately on that report. So, it is understandable if you didn't enter them as such in TurboTax, they may not all get uploaded to your tax return. Also, it is prudent to review your tax return before you submit it, especially when you are relying on the sophistication of your broker's online statement transfer system to insure that your forms are uploaded properly in TurboTax. TurboTax does guarantee the accuracy of the cacluations on your tax return, if you feel your return was not competed accurately based on actions on the part of TurboTax, you can file an accuracy claim by accessing this link:    TurboTax Accuracy Guarantee
