TTax continues to tell me my AMT can not exceed $4,984 but Not how to change it, does anyone know how to get out of the evil loop.

I am sorry you are in an "evil loop" regarding the AMT calculation.

I unfortunately do not have enough information to identify exactly what the issue is and or how to correct it.

Here is an article that provides insight to the AMT and what triggers it.  

The AMT is calculated automatically from entries on your return along with additional entries you may make to adjust the calculation.
