Question

TT Deluxe. I show "single" in both interview and forms views. But TT is generating/including "empty" spouse versions of forms, such as 8889. Why is TT generating them?

Marital status and filing status are, and always have been, single. Prior years TT never generated spouse forms.

TurboTax generates the 8889-S as a worksheet, in case it is needed.

If, at the end of the tax return processing, there are no numbers on the 8889-S, then TurboTax won't send the 8889-S to the IRS anyway.
