The data I am typing into the online version of TurboTax, is it stored online, i.e. the cloud, or on my computer?

TurboTax Online stores data on Intuit's own servers, i.e., "in the cloud", though you can download your entries to a .tax2017 file for use with TurboTax CD/Download (or after filing to a PDF file). To keep your data on your PC other than for filing, use TurboTax CD/Download.
