I have tax owing with the 2019 tax return. I made the payment online today. How do I reflect that payment on the 2019 tax return? Should my tax return still show tax owing or should it show zero balance owing? I can not find a line where i can enter the payment correctly. Thank you very much.

I'm assuming that you have not yet filed the 2019 return. If so, to enter, edit or delete these taxes paid (Federal, State, Local), read on:

    • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
    • Click on Deductions and Credits
    • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
    • Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid

No, i have not filed the return yet. I am mailing it on Monday. I was not sure if this payment will go under estimated tax payments or other line item since I paid it after the estimated payment due dates. Any idea where it should go? I plan to attach the payment confirmation with the return. Thank you.

I have tax owing with the 2019 tax return. I made the payment online today.

Under no circumstances and with no exceptions will you change "ANYTHING" on your tax return for "ANY" "REASON" concerning the payment you made "TODAY". Leave it alone and file it.

If I send you a bill for $1000 with the amount due date 5 months from today, and you pay me today, that bill will "STILL" show $1000 due. It's not going to "magically" change.
