Tax extension for joint return using DirectPay

I’m trying to file an extension online using the extension payment method on via EfTPS / DirectPay as described here. https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/extension-of-time-to-file-your-tax-return

my question is, we file joint returns. However during the extension payment it’s only asking for my details and not my spouses. Do I need to do a separate extension for my spouse or does my extension payment automatically also extend the extension to my spouse also. We are still planning to do a joint return after the extension.

Tax extension for joint return using DirectPay

With a joint return, there is only 1 extension filed that covers the Federal joint return. if you have a state return, that may require a separate extension. you pay the federal balance due as shown on the joint return to the IRS. if three is a state balance due, then we need to know the state to give proper directions. .
