Starting a New Consulting Business in CA

I'm in the midst of starting an Engineering consulting business and would like to get some advice on what would be best regarding starting this venture.

What are the possible avenues I could pursue and what are the pros/cons?  LLC vs. sole proprietor vs. Inc vs ???

Starting out it's not going to make too much difference.  That first year when the income is very low then any old business structure will do.  But after that you should be sitting down with an attorney and a tax professional to discuss your options.  There are a lot of different things to consider and how your business is structured is a big element of all of that.
