Spouse or common law partner amount

Hello,

can someone claim common law partner amount if you are new in Canada and filing your tax for the first time with martial status as common law. But your partner is not living in Canada.

You can claim the spouse/common law partner amount if your partner is not in Canada. But you must be able to prove to the CRA that you are in a common-law relationship, and that you support them because they have low income/no income.
