Spouse living in different state

Hello

I lived in colorado for few months of 2021 and then moved to Michigan. My wife will live in Michigan for entire 2021. Whats the easiest way to file tax for year 2021. Is it possible to file MFJ for federal and MFS for state. Will i be non resident for both the states ?

Neither Colorado nor Michigan allows this.  There are some states where you can file MFJ for federal and MFS for state.  These are not two of those states.  You will need to use the same tax status for federal and state returns.

I plan to file MFJ for federal . I will live more in Michigan than in colorado for 2021. So what will be my filing status in each state ? Will i non resident for both states ?
