Spousal Roth IRA Contribution

My spouse has a Roth IRA and is a student with a part-time job making less than $6,000 a year. How can I contribute to the IRA to max out my spouse's yearly contribution without running into any tax penalties?

Spousal Roth IRA Contribution

Hello @acard5

Tax penalties start when you contribute over the allowable limit. The limit as you know is set by the IRS and depends on several factors such as filing status, income, etc.

Please see the following link from the IRS, which spells out the various limitations: https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/individuals/education-credits-aotc-llc

And : https://www.irs.gov/retirement-plans/roth-iras

Thank you!
