Sponsored a Fellowship at a 501(c)(3) organization

I have solely sponsored a fellowship at the Library Company of Philadelphia which is a 501(c)(3) organization.  The fellowship allows a graduate or post doctorate student the funds needed to conduct research on a defined topic area at the Library Company of Philadelphia for up to two months.

Is the sponsorship amount tax deductible (i.e. is it considered a tax deductible donation)?

Yes, the sponsorship is tax-deductible as a charitable contribution as long as you are not receiving a benefit from sponsoring the Fellowship.

Benefits include merchandise, tickets, advertising, or other goods and services. Then you can deduct only the amount that exceeds the fair market value of the benefit received.

Here is a link to an IRS article about qualified charitable contributions.
