Should we adjust for community property? We live in TX, I qualify HOH & him MFS, we lived separate, filed separate , have separate salaries, & didn't share income.

Publication 555 seems to indicate we don't have to, but I am getting conflicting information from tax experts who say we have to adjust for community property in Texas since we are still officially married. If we do have to do community property, TurboTax won't let me submit community property when I file HOH.

You need advice from an attorney in Texas.

The question is, do you still have a “marital community.”  Your community may have ended when you separated, but only a local attorney or tax professional can tell you for sure.

I don't think so due to living apart and not sharing.
