Should I file 2022 taxes if my adjusted gross income is 0?

It depends on more than just your adjusted gross income (AGI). Generally if your income is zero and you didn't have tax withheld, you don't have to file a return and you won't get a refund if you do. However, there are a few exceptions to that.

If you income is greater than zero and you AGI is $0 because of deductions, you might need to file a return to show why you don't owe.

If you have self-employment income, Form 1099-NEC, or 1099-K greater than $400, you need to file a return to report your income and expenses.

If you have some income, ‌ follow this link to use the IRS tool to determine if you have to file a return.
