Yes you should answer yes the question.  Once you answer yes, the next screen will prompt you to check for either yours or your ex's social security number is on the 1098.

 

 

The next screen will ask you for the details of the 1098.  Since you paid it all yourself as you stated, enter the totals where called for as shown below:

 

 

As the system asks for what you paid for, those will be the amounts that will transfer to Schedule A, Itemized deductions, on your return.

Yes you should answer yes the question.  Once you answer yes, the next screen will prompt you to check for either yours or your ex's social security number is on the 1098.

Thank you, Joseph. That’s what I did last year, but wasn’t even sure then if I did it correctly. 🙂
