Reporting COVID stimulus payment from Japanese government
Last year, the Japanese government issued what I guess you could call its own version of the COVID stimulus payment to people residing in Japan (including non-citizens). Heads of household received 100,000 yen per person registered with the local municipality as living with them. In my case I received a total of 200,000 yen for myself and my Japanese wife (I file "married, separate" and treat her as an NRA and do not claim her as an exemption). I gave her 100,000 yen of that (have the bank records to prove it).
Does anyone have an idea about how I would go about reporting this payment on my 2020 income taxes?

You would report your share of the money as other income in TurboTax by using the following menu tabs:
- Income and expenses
- Less common income
- Miscellaneous income
- Other reportable income
Enter a description for the income (Foreign Stimulus?) and the amount.
