Rental Property Deductions

Hello:

Can items like management fees, credit card fees, travel agent commissions, owner stay fees, and owner charges be deducted on my Schedule E as rental expenses? These items are on a list the resort sent to me along with my 1099-MISC.

Please advise and thanks.

Yes and no.

Management fees, credit card fees, and travel agent commissions may be deducted as a rental expense on your Schedule E.  The owner stay fees and owner charges are personal expenses and cannot be deducted as a rental expense.

You will find a specific data entry for management fees and commissions.  You can enter the credit card fees as a miscellaneous expense and type your own description in the field.
