I filed my federal tax return several weeks ago and have already received my return. In that return, there was a dependent worksheet included for my 21-year old son. TurboTax determined he was not eligible to remain a dependent since he was no longer a full-time student. Net, he was NOT listed as a dependent on my return even though there was a worksheet included to determine such. Today, I filed my son's return with the selection that NOBODY could claim him as a dependent. His return was rejected because ANOTHER return had used his TIN. Net, I changed his return to someone could claim him and did claim him. This return was ALSO rejected. I don't know what to do.

The easiest solution is to mail the tax return in.
Based on what you said, you can have him claim that no one else can claim him as a dependent.
Thanks John. I'll try filing through the mail.
Here is the interesting part. I contacted the IRS and they informed me that nobody had submitted a return using my son's SS#. What???? I received an email from TurboTax saying that both of my attempts to file my son's return were rejected due to someone else using my son's SS# but the IRS has no record of any rejection against his SS#. Net, I'm not sure what is happening. Perhaps TurboTax is filing this under my SS# vs the one on his return. Any idea how to address this with TurboTax? I used the same TurboTax license to file my son's return as mine but the files were different and the listed SS#s are different. I have done this in the past without any issues. Thanks.
