Received 2019 state tax refund in 2021, do I claim it in 2020?

In 2019 did you claim state taxes paid as an itemized deduction or did you use the standard deduction? If you used the standard deduction you do not need to claim your 2019 refund, only if you used your state tax as an itemized deduction in 2019. If you need to claim it, it would be in the year you received it, this would be for 2021 not 2020.
