In 2020 I received a Northern California Wildfire Assistance check after applying for a loss in a 2017 fire . I didn't receive any IRS forms to file. Has anyone figured out if this is taxable and how to report it in TurboTax - since it doesn't ask about checks, just how to get tax credits for losses. Thanks.

Wildfire Assistance Program payments are disaster-related and it is not taxable income. You don't have to include the payment in your tax return.

A BIG thank you. The wildfire assistance program website doesn't answer this question.
