The message DO NOT FILE or DO NOT FILE, FORM NOT FINAL will appear on your printout if:

  • The paper-filed (print) version of the tax form has not yet been finalized in TurboTax; or
  • Your federal return was printed before e-filing; or
  • Your state return was printed before your federal return was accepted by the IRS; or
  • The form is available but you haven't downloaded the latest update (CD/download versions only).

In some cases, clicking the Download all forms and worksheets link (instead of Download/print return) in your 2016 Tax Timeline will give you clean printouts without the watermark.

This is the second year in a row that this nonsensical watermark appears.

I am DONE with Turbo Tax!

Have used is for years and NEVER had this issue.

I downloaded all forms... these suggestions are useless.

I was an IT pro and KNOW that this is caused by an identifiable issue that NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED!

I want a refund of the $$ I paid for this trash software.

I also want a proven way (software fix) to eliminate this watermark.

It is annoying and not acceptable..

If 'do not file' appears on your printed copy, but you've successfully Efiled, it isn't unusual for a form to be e-fileable but not yet ready for printing and mailing, especially state forms.

Here's more info about the 'Do Not File' Watermark.

I am sorry... have used Turbo Tax for 20 years or so and have had this SAME issue the last two years.

I logged on, (use PC version), I got the latest updates and proceeded to do my taxes.

I spent 40 years designing highly complex IT systems.  I know how situations should be handled.

And, this watermark is NOT the answer.

If any of the forms is incomplete or not updated, the software should issue an informative message stating exactly that, including the watermark explanation.

If printing prior to submitting would produce the watermark, that notice should pop up.  AND, if printed anyway, and the taxes filed afterwards, the watermark should go away.

NONE of the so-called explanations are valid.  The software has a bug in it and it needs to be addressed, NOW!  Notice should be presented upon each login of any issues present that would create confusion and frustration.  I am not sure how INTUIT handles Quality Control, but it is lacking.  Seems to me that they just don't care enough to put a little into correcting what is evidently a simple software problem that causes many to become frustrated and question the validity of using Turbo Tax!
