Hello,
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove the $300 cash charity deduction I accidentally added. I was doing it theoretically to see how much it would change my return and I did not want to actually add it. I now want to remove it but when I got to charity there is no option for it and when I search it does not bring up a section.

Please follow the directions below.
The new "up to 300 above the line cash charity donation" is available for tax year 2020 allowing that "above the line" deduction on the 1040 line 10 to those taxpayers that use the Standard Deduction. (If you Itemize Deductions, the amount will be listed on Schedule A.)
Since you entered the amount as a test, you will need to do a few extra steps to get the number out of the program.
FIRST, you need to delete the entry under Deductions & Credits:
Click on Tax Home on the left gray side bar
Click the Federal Taxes tab if necessary
Click Deductions & Credits
Select I'll Choose What I Work On or “Pick up where you left off” to move forward
Scroll down to Charitable Donations
Scroll down to Donations to Charity in 2020 and click Edit/Add
Scroll down to the entry you wish to delete and click the Delete trash can next to the entry
The next screen will ask for Confirmation
Scroll down and click Yes
THAT WILL NOT REMOVE THE NUMBER FROM THE 1040
NEXT, YOU NEED TO GET TO THE SCREEN THAT ASKS ABOUT THAT SPECIFIC ITEM.
To remove the number from line 10, please follow these steps:
Click Tax Tools on the left side bar
Click Tools from the drop-down
Click the "Topic Search" box on the screen
Type or scroll down to standard deduction and exemptions
Click GO
The next screen gives you an option to change you selection from Standard to Itemized and back. You do not need to change your selection
Scroll down to the bottom of that screen and click CONTINUE
The next screen is the Charitable Cash Contributions under Cares Act Screen
Change the amount to 0 (zero) if you did not make any cash charitable contributions in 2020
Scroll down and click Continue
Click Continue on the next screen
That should undo the erroneous entry
Next, view your 1040 to see f the number is still showing on your 1040 line 10 , if using TurboTax Online-
To verify, click “Review” if necessary, in order to get Tax Tools on the left side bar
Click Tax Tools on the left side bar
Click Tools on the drop down list
Click “View Tax Summary” on the “Tools Center” screen
When the next screen appears (Review Tax Summary) ON THE LEFT SIDE BAR you should see “Preview my 1040”
Click “Preview my 1040” on the left side bar
Scroll down to line 10b on the 1040. The “above the line” charity contribution should now be blank
