Box 6 in 1099R indicates that the amount listed was for health insurance premiums. Turbo Tax is insisting that this is for net unrealized appreciation in employer's securities and the difference should be greater than the difference between box 1 and box 2A. This is entirely irrelevant since I am a Federal retiree and the Federal government does not have securities for which there would be a gain. Turbo tax will not allow me to file electronically unless I align with what it is asking for. This is an error in the program's lack of flexibility.

the problem is the 1099. box 6 is for unrealized appreciation. if the amount was for insurance the amount should be in box 5. The error is not with TT.
