My return was denied saying my disabled son was claimed on someone else's tax return. His father is dead. I've been caring for him 41 years! What do I do? Thanks!

This is the first time in 41 years this has happened!  Thanks!

Verify with your son that he did not file a tax return and claim himself. If he did not claim himself, see What if somebody already claimed my dependent?

@gvorachek

the Turbotax link is not very helpful.

You need to file your return on paper.

someone probably found your son's SSN somehow  and used it to defraud the IRS.

If you want, you can apply at IRS for an IP PIN for your son and for yourself.
