Technically you are still married. You can still file a joint return. If you choose not to file a joint return you can select "married filing separately". There are pros and cons to both. If you are in a place of protection (abuse shelter) wherein you do not want your significant other to know your whereabouts you might consider filing separately.
It doesn't sound like you will be able to file as married filing jointly. However, you will need his social security number when filing as married filing separately and if he itemizes deductions you must also.
