No, you cannot apply your stimulus payment to your New York state taxes.

 

The federal tax returns and state tax return agencies operate independently of each other and overpayments from one agency cannot be applied to another agency.

 

You will need to pay the New York state taxing authorities directly as instructed on your return.

 

The IRS will issue your refund according to your selected preferences.
