Installer Service - Software Update blocking electronic filing

I am trying to file federal and state taxes electronically and Turbo Tax asks to update the software before filing.  When I've chosen "Update Software", a window opens and says "Waiting for the installer service".  After waiting 15 minutes, I canceled.  Since the software update was unable to happen, I am unable to file my taxes electronically.  How do I get past this software update issue?  The software I'm using is 2025 Turbo Tax Premier Desktop/PC.

here are some suggestions. some are from Microsoft, others are not. The one thing I would not do is hack the registry unless you are completely comfortable with doing this. Mess up, and your computer could crash and not reboot.
