When did you move out of the home where you got the credit?  Have you been making payments with your other tax returns since then?

your denial is surprising because the original rules were that the stimulus could only be taken for back child support.    Sort of surprising the IRS would not have previously billed you for repayment of the homebuyers credit if you didn't report it.   unfortunately,  while the IRS phone lines may now be open, it may be difficult to get through and you need to be prepared for a long wait.
