I’m currently supporting a child that I have guardianship of. What do I claim the child under?

If the child was placed with you by an authorized placement agency, you would choose Foster child. Otherwise, if the child has no family relationship to you, you would choose "Other" from the drop-down list under "Another person".

There will be other requirements to be met in order to claim the child as your dependent. There is no exemption amount for dependents for tax year 2020, but a dependent can affect certain credits.
