Why do I get an error message on my MA state tax return?  Return is a non-calendar year return?

The state has Not finalized their tax forms yet.

2/22/19 Same issue here. Portion of 2018 earnings occurred in MA. Is this something that will be fixed via an updated tax form from MA? Or is is a software bug?

FIXED!!  I deleted massachusetts data under File->Remove Massachusetts Data

and then redid everything using File->Prepare Massachusetts Data and return worked and was successfully e-filed.

Are you filing a business return that goes by a fiscal year?  If so, that may be the reason.  If you're filing in Massachusetts, here's more info that may help you.
