The IRS usually rejects tax returns that include a deceased person due to the high incidence of fraud. If that is the reason is it being rejected, you will have to print and mail your return to get it accepted.
It is not legal to file a Married Filing Jointly tax return with someone you are not legally married to. If that is what you did, you may have some issues with the IRS.
I have the same situation. My AGI from 2018 is correct because I have a copy of the 2018 return. I have transmitted my return multiple times and keep getting this error. I called the IRS and they told me that I would have to mail in my return. Very frustrating!!! I see where many other people are experiencing this same problem. Kindly respond to me if you can get this problem resolved.
I lost my spouse in 2019. I cannot believe the IRS cannot confirm my loss. It can be verified by accessing the spouse's social security number.
