The software for 2018 taxes appears to have a glitch.
It produces difference amounts for state versus federal medical expenses.
This does not appear to affect the bottom line for the State of Ohio return but it is concerning that the listed amounts differ between federal and state.
The amount is only entered on the federal return and automatically shows up on the state form.
Why is this?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Additional information shows two discrepancies:
Medical expenses of $8,308.00 state rather than the $9,900.00 federal entered. |
Insurance cost of $11,369.00 state rather than the $14,146 federal entered. |
Using the online auto-calculation Ohio form "Unreimbursed Health Care Expenses Worksheet for Ohio Schedule A, Line 34" results in an result of $15,157 as opposed to $15, 153 with TurboTax.
So the end result is just about the same but not sure why the state numbers used are lower than the federal ones.
I have gotten the same discrepancy in the Ohio 2019 medical worksheet, with it reporting a lower amount than the federal worksheet. Drove me crazy, but it seems maybe its not me after all. But never the less it did not affect the tax outcome.
