Questions about WA PFMLA leave payments and taxes

My wife took Washington State's Paid Family and Medical Leave (WA PFMLA) in 2023 after we had a baby. She spent about 6 weeks on medical leave, followed by family leave.

Here are my questions regarding federal taxes:

- Family Leave: She received a Form 1099-G for her family leave payments. My understanding is that this income is taxable, even though WA PFMLA didn't withhold any taxes. Is this correct?
- TurboTax: Will TurboTax automatically calculate the taxes we owe when we import the 1099-G form?
- Medical Leave: We haven't received any tax forms for her medical leave payments. Do we need to pay taxes on this income? How do we determine if it's taxable or not?
- Is PFMLA specific to WA state or this is something that is common in all states?

Any insights or advice from those who have experience with WA PFMLA and taxes would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Thanks. Re: medical leave not taxable. That pay has not been mentioned in any form provided to us. So, do we need to mention it anywhere in the turbotax system?

No, not medical leave since it isn't taxable.
