Question About Uploading W-2 and 1099-R Forms

I manually added content into turbotax from my W-2 and 1099-R forms.

I'm unclear whether I also need to send copies of those forms to the IRS when I e-file my federal and to the Dept. of Revenue when I e-file my state returns.

Thanks for your help.

Question About Uploading W-2 and 1099-R Forms

Normally, you do not have to send copies of these forms to any taxing agency (unless they specifically ask for them).

This is because (1) the data from these forms is part of the XML data package that is e-filed to the taxing agencies, and (2) these taxing agencies have already gotten copies of these forms (if the issuers of those forms did their jobs right).

You might get a request to send copies of the forms to a taxing agency, in the case of what you entered was not the same as what the IRS got.
