Qualified dwelling
I bought a home in Hawaii that I am using for my primary residence. I still own my home in Oregon that my daughter lives in. Can I claim the mortgage interest for both places? Does alternate mortgage come into it at all?

Qualified dwelling
Yes. The home is Oregon can be treated as a second home and you can deduct your mortgage interest and real estate taxes.
