Hi,
I received 2 free stocks from Webull as a promotion and I have only sold 1 of the stocks. I did not sell the other however. I'm almost done filing my taxes but, TurboTax keeps looping me around to fill out the Schedule C form even though I don't have my own business. When asked "Does one of these uncommon situations apply?" I answer none of these apply. When asked "Did the promotional offer from webull involve work thats like your main job?" I answered no. When asked "How often did you get income for...?" I answered I got it in 2021. Finally, when asked "Did the promotional offer from webull involve an intent to earn money?" I also answered no. I tried looking around google and found that if I answered these questions like this, Schedule C shouldn't appear for me to answer but no matter what I do, it still comes up. Even if I try to file the 1099MISC as miscellaneous income under less common income and delete my 1099-Misc from other common income, the Schedule C form still appears. How can I get around this?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Delete the 1099-MISC and just enter the amount from it as other miscellaneous income.
Delete the schedule C from forms before you re-enter the income.
To Delete a form:
Tax forms are interconnected. While you are on this screen don’t start deleting forms you don’t recognize.
