Changing your tax preparer from year to year should have no impact on the timing of your refund. Also, it will not raise any alerts for fraud.
However, if you have already filed a tax return for this year (2024), it's not advisable to file another until your original return has been rejected. The IRS will not accept the second tax return. It won't allow another return through the system for that tax year. This is because of legal reasons and the possibility of fraud.
If your return is rejected, you will receive a message and you will be able to correct the rejection issue and resubmit. Click here for more information if you get an email about your return being held.
Certain tax credits can delay your return, such as Earned income credit and the Additional Child Tax Credit.
