Paper filing married separate New York state tax return after married joint federal tax return

My spouse and I live in different state in 2023. We want to file a joint federal return, but a separate state return. However, the separate NYS return requires me to e-file, which is not possible because my federal return is already filed jointly. Can I still paper-file the NYS return? Should I include a copy of the federal return along with the state return when I paper file?

You can paper file your New York return. Do not include a copy of your federal return.

You are required to e-file your New York return IF "your software supports the electronic filing of your return." Since TurboTax does not allow you to e-file your New York return in your situation, you can paper file it.
