Out of State W2G

Hello. I live in AZ and won money at an AZ casino. All in AZ except for the W2G shows Casino Payer’s name as being in CA. Should this generate a CA return?

no. casino winnings are only reportable in the state in which the casino is located if that state taxes casino winnings and your home state if that state taxes casino winnings. since the state is the same in both cases, the winnings are only reportable for federal and AZ purposes.
