On my TurboTax returns I noticed that the Ohio County is automatically listed as FRAN when I am filing as a non-resident and have a California address listed. Why is this? Shouldn't the County section of the 1021 Ohio IT 1040 be blank? How can this be fixed?

Q. The Ohio County is automatically listed as FRAN when I am filing as a non-resident and have a California address listed. Why is this?
A. That's the way the Ohio Dept of Taxation wants it, so TT does it that way. FRAN is Franklin County where Columbus is.
Q. Shouldn't the County section of the 1021 Ohio IT 1040 be blank?
A. You would think so, but, no.
Q. How can this be fixed?
A. No. Don't try to fix it. If you try to override it, it may prevent you from e-filing (I haven't actually try to test it).
I believe @Hal_Al is familiar with Ohio.
