My husband did some extra work last year on a remote basis (short-term design freelance project) for a company (headquartered in Canada), but he did not receive ay nonemployee compensation tax forms such as a 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC. The amount he received is under $2000 and we are using TurboTax Premier 2021 to file our taxes this year.
Is there a way to report this type of income in TurboTax 2021 without having received a tax form?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
If you know the exact amount or you may have to amend the return when they send the correct amount, Try calling the place and ask when you will receive it. or if you got cash you can add it on other income under your freelance business name.
Yes, you can report the income without a formal tax form such as a W-2 or 1099-NEC.
It is considered self-employment income. Your self-employment income and expenses will be entered in the Income and Expenses section under the federal taxes tab of TurboTax Online.
Next you'll enter the type and amount of your expenses if there are any.
