Non-Resident for California State Tax

Hi,

Going through the TurboTax workflow for the state filing for California. I work a job that is based in California, but my residence as per my W2 is outside of CA. I occasionally visit California, but I am a full-year non-resident of California.

I am confused by the step in TurboTax that is
Did you earn all of your income in California?
There are two options here:
- Yes, I earned all $TOTAL in California
- No, I earned all or some of the $TOTAL in a different state

If I understood the 540NR correctly, I believe I should:
Days in California: CA_DAYS
(CA_DAYS/365) * ($TOTAL) = ($CA_INCOME)

So then the answering of the question would be:
- No, I earned all or some of the $TOTAL in a different state

With the amount earned in California equivalent to $CA_INCOME.

Is this the correct understanding of how to answer the questionnaire for the California non-resident state tax?
