Requirements:
Access to a CD drive on any other computer.
CD version of Turbotax 2020 (maybe other years as well)
Windows 10
This problem was first posted on April 1, 2020, and it is still around.
The Problem: When you try to solve the problem in any of many ways, you always end up with "This license code has already been associated with an account".
The Fix: Copy the TurboTax CD onto a USB drive and install it from the USB drive.
This may or may not be a violation of a strict interpretation of terms and conditions, BUT it is the ONLY fix I have been able to find after 3 days (involving 36 hours of effort) including over an hour of consulting Turbotax technical support.
The solution is to copy the CD to a USB and then install it from the USB.
THE FOLLOW SHOULD WORK for almost everybody:
If you have a computer with a CD Drive,
0) type in c: in the start menu field, and go up one level and open a window on the Turbotax DVD directory which probably shows as a red circle with a checkmark in it.
1) Plug in an empty USB flash drive, snd open a window on the USB drive,
2) In the Turbotax DVD directory window, select all the visible files and folders.
3) Either copy or drag and drop the files and folders into the USB window;
4) Go up one level select the USB Drive red circle & checkmark and eject the USB Drive by right-clicking the eject option in the popup menu.
5) Remove the USB drive and then plug it into the target computer and open a window on the USB drive. You can see the drive by typing c: into the start menu field and then going up one level.
6) Select Setup that will be a red circle with a checkmark. You may have to be an administrator... I don't know.
7) Follow the prompts and you should be OK by entering the license code when instructed to do so.
Your Turbotax should be installed.
