I submitted my return several times. I even used the IRS AGI and my return was still rejected. On hold now with USPS to see how late they are open.
Did you try entering "0" as @SweetieJean suggested above? That has worked for many taxpayers that had the same problem you are having.
You can request an extension - see Can IRS extensions be e-filed? for help.
(Hint on USPS - if you live near a large city (e.g. Atlanta), the post office closest to the airport is often open to midnight).
