...could claim her as a dependent. I e-filed both returns. Hers was approved and she got her refund. I filed a 1040-X for her checking the box i missed so i could claim her. That was approved and i paid the difference that she owed. I then resubmitted my return by e-file and it was again rejected for the same reason. What did i do wrong and how can i resolve this?

You didn't do anything wrong.  The IRS moves slowly at times.  Updating information in their computer systems is one of those times.  I would give it at least a few weeks, and continue trying to e-file periodically.  The alternative is you can print and file your return by mail.
