Probably it's screening for US number formats. Enter a US number format and it should work--10 digits with a valid US area code. Is it TurboTax asking for your number or the IRS? I'm guessing probably TurboTax, wanting to use it to confirm it's "really you." If you don't have a US number that gets to you, you'll be stuck! Maybe a TurboTax employee knows how they work around this. It's been too long since I didn't have a US phone number! You might be able to get a google voice number or something like that, where the US number forwards texts to you via the internet?
