My husband has not filed taxes in a few years and owes money to the irs from previous years from before we were married, should we file together or separate?

Considering his unpaid tax liability from previous years, I would file Married Filing SEPARATELY and encourage him to file his previous years' taxes as well as file MFS this year for himself.
